Ready for something different? How about a blended brew consisting of a classic Biere de Garde (French Farmhouse) beer spiked with organic fig syrup. Its a mix of Winter and Fall with great malt and fig flavor, a real crowd pleaser. This is one brew you will WANT TO BE BAAACK. The Figinator is on Garde.
Traditional Biere de Garde originated in Northern France (Nord) as Mars or Bock beers in the 1800s with the modern versions appearing in the 1950s. You will find year-round production of Biere de Garde by various US micros and in French brewing regions, especially in colder weather.
The flavor is very malt forward with caramel and hints of toast. The aroma is complex malt with a earthy yeast character. The balance is definitely malty, barely balanced by hops. These French style beers are great with hearty, rich foods like steak, roast pork, beef stew and simple desserts.
The normal gravity range for a Biere de Garde is 1.060 -1.080 with an ABV range of 6 - 8%. Bitterness is low to medium on this beer around 25-30 IBUs with color 8-12L (pale to amber) and attenuation/body is medium/full.
